It felt good to start the day and Thomas and Tara’s Engagement session in my home of the Shenandoah Valley. Unlike some of the destination work I had done the weekend prior it felt much more at ease waking up in my own bed in Luray and having time to casually prepare the gear for their E Session the night before.
This lovely couple actually found me while I was photographing their friend Natane’s wedding at the Hotel Laurance back in 2017. I can’t wait for their November Wedding so I can return to Hotel Laurance as I love that venue’s style and color palette, but this post isn’t about their Luray Wedding, but rather their Engagement Session here in the Valley.
As this couple is from out of town and this was a destination Wedding for them we set things up so they could do their hair and makeup test the same day as their Engagement Shoot. As with all of my clients I try to make this as easy as possible so I opened up my studio for them to prepare and stage all their clothing options before the shoot. The day started as Wendy, their hair and makeup artist, arrived and got setup and when they came in we were all set.
Thomas and I shared a few laughs before I let him relax in our viewing room while Tara got her hair and makeup done. It had rained the day before, and actually rained a bit during the session. Luckily it didn’t slow us down, and the images came out phenomenal!
